Reiki Healing in Benfleet

Reiki Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

“A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being”.  Oxford English dictionary

The Japanese word ‘Reiki’ literally translates as “Universal life force energy’.

This non-invasive system of healing was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan and allows universal life force energy to flow into your energy centres, chakras, to clear blockages, promote balance, harmony, energy flow and wellbeing.  It has been taught and used in the UK since the late 1900s, but Eastern medicine has for thousands of years worked with this energy, recognising its flow through all living things.

It is an intelligent form of healing, the energy goes to the part(s) of your mind, body and spirit that need it most, for the highest good of all.  You may also see Reiki referred to as Energy Medicine.

Who can receive Reiki?

It is safe for adults, children, mothers–to–be, babies and animals.

What happens at a Reiki session?

Before you arrive I create a sacred space and invite in universal healing energy for your highest good. We will have a chat, complete a new client form (if you haven’t already done this online) and set your intentions for healing.

Reiki is given fully clothed, in a gently lit treatment room with soft music and healing frequencies or we can take the table outdoors into my garden and listen to the sounds of the birds and neighbourhood (weather permitting). You will be invited to lay down on your back on my treatment bed, which I’ve lovingly prepared with fresh linen and snuggly blankets.

All I ask is that you simply be, there’s nothing for you to do but listen to my voice and relax.  I will place my hands gently on or near your main chakras. I will show you the hand positions before I start and please do tell me if you find any of the hand positions uncomfortable as I can adapt. Towards the end I will ask you to roll onto your side so I can access your back.

It can also be given seated if you are unable or do not wish to lie down.

I will invite you to bring in some gentle movement, before slowly moving to a sitting position.  We’ll then spend a 5-10 minutes to share anything that arose during the session whilst enjoying a hydrating water and a grounding snack.

How does Reiki work?  What’s the science behind Reiki?

During my Reiki training I received a number of sacred attunements which enable me to channel energy which emits as electro-magnetic or bio-magnetic energy from my hands.

Science is beginning to catch up with this ancient wisdom and quantum physics has begun to explain and measure how Reiki works, as energy exists beyond the physical realm and can be directed through intention and focus. The frequencies of the energy emitted from a Reiki therapists hands can be scientifically measured and these frequencies appear to correspond to those that medical researchers have identified as being the

optimum frequencies for stimulating the healing process in tissues, bones and other body parts so far investigated.

Quantum physics also suggests that particles can be connected over distances, a phenomenon known as entanglement, which some use to explain how distance healing might work.

What will I feel during a Reiki session?

This varies from person to person – you may feel all, some or none of these – my clients tell me they can feel:

  • warmth coming from my hands

  • cold and or warm sensations in different parts of their body

  • gentle muscle twitches as their body releases stored emotions

  • soft tingling sensations, similar to pins and needles

  • my hands may be near their head but they feel that I am touching their feet

What is Reiki Distance Healing/ Remote Reiki Healing?

From a traditional Japanese Reiki perspective, the Reiki Distance Healing Technique focuses on offering Reiki from a state of Oneness, or connection to everything. In this way, the practitioner isn’t “sending” Reiki, instead it’s feeling one with another person and sharing Reiki this way.

Distance energy healing, sometimes called remote healing, is the practice of sending healing energy to someone who is not physically present. This concept may seem unusual, but it is rooted in the understanding that energy is not limited by space or time.

The same benefits are felt as would be expected in an in person session.

What will I feel after a Reiki session / What are the benefits of Reiki?

As you will see from my reviews, most people feel deeply relaxed, calm, peaceful with an overall sense of wellbeing.  It can help with sleep, pain management, and emotional clarity.

Emotional shifts may occur, in the days that follow.  Some clients experience a short-lived healing reaction, like a headache or flu-like symptoms.

I will give you an aftercare leaflet.

How long does a Reiki session last?

In total our time together is 45 mins, your time on the treatment bed is around 20 – 30 minutes and I will spend time before and after your treatment to answer any questions you may have.  I will ask you if you’d like to share anything that came up whilst having the treatment and if you’d like I will share with you anything I sensed.

How many Reiki treatments do I need?

We are all individuals and it’s your personal choice, your body intuitively knows when it is out of balance.  Some of my clients have fortnightly sessions, some monthly and some as and when they feel they need a pick me up or to relax.  Healing is a process, and it’s down to you – I merely channel the energy and create the environment for you to receive, it is your self awareness and intention that heals.
